Summer 2008 @ New Hope Charities
The children had an exciting time at our 2008 Summer Program:
- Summer Camp starts in June and the students are excited to return to our center for the Summer. We went on over thirty-five field trips, including deep sea fishing and The Morikami "Japanese" Museum. In addition, the West Palm Beach Science Museum held an educational workshop for our students which featured the dissection of squid.

During the summer camp, 30 of our students attended Junior Achievement’s "Exchange City". Initially, 15 middle school students attended a week long program from June 7-11th,, then 15 elementary students attended during the week of July 21-25th.

Collaboration with two Wellington businessmen, Mr. Terry Clark and Mr. Kevin Enterlein, the summer camp “Job Training” Program kicked off on June 23rd. The program provided youth with weekly training on how to interview for a job, dress for success and project a positive image. Youth who successfully completed this program received a one-week internship at Wellington Regional Hospital, The Wellington Chamber of Commerce, and/or Palms West Surgical Associates. Seven students were successfully placed and each received a two-hundred dollar stipend from their host agency.
-
Through a collaboration with The United Way, ten youth volunteers assisted New Hope’s staff in planting sod and flowers at the Family Center.
-
On June 28th, New Hope Charities hosted a luncheon for more than three-hundred Catholic Youth volunteers who were part of the "Youth in Motion" Program. The youth volunteered by repairing homes and churches in the Pahokee and Canal Point communities.
