Now, let´s take a look at our Adult and Community Programs -
New Hope offers adult English classes four days per week from 10:00AM - 12:00Noon. The goal of this program is to increase conversational and written English skills among non-English speaking adults. Class instruction often focuses on practical use of English in one´s everyday life. Students´ practice reading labels, product instructions and short stories.
This program provides relief to 193 families who meet the federal poverty guidelines. Every month food bags weighing as much as fifty pounds are assembled and distributed throughout the Pahokee and Belle Glade communities.
New Hope Charities depends heavily upon local area volunteers who assist staff on a monthly basis with the preparation of the food bags. In addition, volunteers often assist during special events such as our toy give away and youth field trips. Approximately sixty volunteers contribute to the success of our food program, summer camps and special events.
Through participation in this activity parents can offer input into the delivery of services, future programs and meet volunteer needs.
