About New Hope Charities
New Hope Charities was incorporated as a 501(3)(c) charity in 1988 offering support to remote, distressed and underserved segments of society. The first program implemented by New Hope distributed food to needy families living in the “Glades” area of western Palm Beach County. Currently, we operate a multi-service center in Pahokee, Florida, the second poorest city in the United States. The Family Center consists of a Day Care Center, a Youth Center, an Education Center, a Health Center, basketball courts, and an open field for soccer, baseball and football.
All of the programs at the Family Center take a holistic approach to families in need and children-at-risk. Our educational programs include mentoring, tutoring, family strengthening classes and basic economics. The individuals participating in our programs meet federal poverty guidelines. The programs we offer include food distribution for hundreds of needy families, day care for infants and toddlers of local workers, two educational and recreational school programs (after school and out-of-school) for elementary and middle school students, free mental health counseling for children and families, plus parenting classes for the local disadvantaged population.
New Hope´s mission is to implement realistic ways of improving the mental, moral and physical condition of children “at-risk” and families “in need” living in poverty-stricken, remote communities. It is the goal of New Hope to empower each person, from early childhood to maturity, to achieve stability, self-sufficiency, self-esteem and hope for the future. In meeting this mission, New Hope Charities, Inc. works closely with other local and state agencies to maximize resources and meet the needs of the poor.
